Healing Power Of Nature

Healing Power Of Nature, originally uploaded by IvanoMak.

“Rest when you're weary. Refresh and renew yourself, your body, your mind, your spirit. Then get back to work.” -- Ralph Marston.

I'm back to Virginia. There is not a better way to refresh yourself after a day of work than to take a walk by the river.

What The Weekend Is For

What The Weekend Is For, originally uploaded by IvanoMak.

To rest.. To travel.. To see the mountains.. To see the lake.. To smell the fresh air.. To be a human, not a slave.

My weekend in Utah was the one to remember. It was nice to graduate and spend a night in Park City.

Advice From Elder Bednar

Advise From Elder Bednar, originally uploaded by IvanoMak.

Since Jeff Bednar was one of our Master of Accountancy graduates, his dad, Elder Bednar, also attended Convocation. He spoke powerfully at the end of the ceremony, admonishing us all to remember God and his commandments above all things as we enter the business world.

If any of you fellow graduates would like to print this, I formated it 5X7. Click on the photo, then select "all sizes" and download the "Original size" for best results.

Him And The Road

Him And The Road, originally uploaded by IvanoMak.

"We run, not because we think it is doing us good, but because we enjoy it and cannot help ourselves...The more restricted our society and work become, the more necessary it will be to find some outlet for this craving for freedom. No one can say, 'You must not run faster than this, or jump higher than that.' The human spirit is indomitable." -- Sir Roger Bannister

I really should start running again.

My First Impressions Of Virginia

My First Impressions Of Virginia, originally uploaded by IvanoMak.

Another beautiful state of the Union. Very flat, very green, and deer is scared of the man with the camera.

In Memory of the Virginia Tech Massacre Victims

Being a student myself on a campus that is similar in size to the one of Virginia Tech, I have thought a lot about what happened there this Monday. I know that it could just as easily have happened at BYU, and I feel the pain of all those who were directly or indirectly affected by this tragedy.

This is the photo from the candlelight vigil held at BYU this evening in honor of the victims. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. May you all rest in peace.

For best results see it large on black.

USPS People Going Crazy

USPS People Going Crazy, originally uploaded by IvanoMak.

Busy day for the post office today, as millions of people want to have their tax returns filed on time. I wish I had compassion for these guys, but I don't, as their busy tax season lasts one day, whereas tax accountant's busy seasons lasts months.

You have to check out this woman's eyes in large size. Scary. Many Americans have entrusted their tax returns to her.

Sun Rises Over Silicon Valley

Sun Rises Over Silicon Valley, originally uploaded by IvanoMak.

I took this shot while terrible events at Virginia Tech were taking place. I was just preparing to start my first day at my first full time job. Our prayers are with all those who were affected.

My New Home

My New Home, originally uploaded by IvanoMak.

This will be easily one of the craziest weeks of this year. It starts on the West coast and will end on the East coast, with a lot of exams, projects, training, soccer and a CPA exam sandwiched in between. Needless to say I only had a few seconds for this shot, and it might just get worse as week goes by, but it was nice to smell the ocean once again.

In case you're wondering, the horizon is aligned, but the depth of field creates this weird illusion.

I took some pictures today for Becca's sister Leisl and her kids. Sometimes my nephew Jake pulls out this look that's well beyond his age.

The Profile Of April's Storm

The Profile Of April's Storm, originally uploaded by IvanoMak.

“I know there is a God - I see the storm coming and I see his hand in it - if he has a place then I am ready - we see the hand.” -- JFK

The mix of colors, the storm, the sun that was setting and a good point of view created this miracle.

Delicate Arch 2.0 - Nature At Its Finest

I don't think anybody can have too many shots of this one. Slightly different time during the sunset, hence slightly different colors from the previosly posted one.

Please go and VOTE for this one to published in the JPG maganize.

My Photo On KSL!!

My Photo On KSL!!, originally uploaded by IvanoMak.

Today is a happy day. My photo of Brandon was featured on 10pm KSL News, NBC's news affiliate and a major news broadcast in a state of Utah (channel 5 locally). I could not believe it. They also featured another photo of the Balanced Rock. Thanks to Comcast's cable box, to a wife who left it on channel 5 so I could rewind the TV and father-in-law Bob who let us know after he randomly saw it, otherwise we'd missed it. A proud day.

The link to the video is found here.

Good Feeling..

Good Feeling.., originally uploaded by IvanoMak.

It felt good today to put the Internal Revenue Code to the locker for the last time, as I have taken my last midterm of my college era. Ever. It was International Tax, and it was probably the hardest one of them all. The Code will stay there until three weeks time when I take one more tax exam. No, I don't read IRC during breakfast. And no, I will not file your taxes.

The Winter is Dying, originally uploaded by IvanoMak.

This was taken a month and a half ago, but is worthy to be posted here on a blog, as this was one of my favorite winter shots. The lake is a Deer Creek Lake one sees on the way to Park City (driving from Provo).

Roland and Star

Roland and Star, originally uploaded by IvanoMak.

Today I took some photos for graduation announcements for some of our friends. Portrait photography is a lot harder than it seems. This is just an example of one of the shots I've taken.

This April Roland is graduating with a Master of Public Administration degree, while his wife Star is graduating with a degree in Taiwanese.
